Project framework #
Distribute music source via network to integrate conventional sound systems with amplifier
SMART devices used #
- any number of SMARTstreamers
Network requirements #
Professional IT networks are often adapted to the customer’s specific security requirements. Therefore, please check with your IT administrator that the following requirements are met before commissioning:
- Router with active DHCP
- SMART Audio devices are in the same network
- Multicast is activated
Service requirements:
The mDNS service enables the resolution of DNS names via the mDNS protocol. The IP address is 224.0.0.251 and the port is 5353.
Ports 80/443 and 1443 are required for http(s) and websockets. are required.
Broadcasts via UDP on port 42750 are required for the localization of NewTec products.
Port 42735 is required for multicast on the IP addresses 239.10.140.21 – 239.10.140.31 if a SMARTstreamer is used to distribute audio over the network.
The service availability should be guaranteed continuously.
Port releases:
Release of the UDP ports 42750 (broadcasts), 42735 (multicast for SMARTstreamer) and 5353 (mDNS) as well as the TCP ports 80/443 and 1443 (websockets).
Important note: Internet connection or VPN is not required for commissioning. Internet is only required in the case of external audio sources (URL) or for remote service.
Using SMARTstreamer as transmitter/receiver #
Audio sources often need to be transmitted from one location to another within a building. Laying the necessary cables can be time-consuming and expensive, specially shielded cables are often required to avoid interference.
The NewTec SMARTstreamer can be used both as a sending device and as a receiving device by making the appropriate settings in the NewTec WebApp.
- Connect SMARTstreamer 1 (transmitter) to your local network using the network cable supplied. Make sure that the CONNECT LED lights up blue continuously. Connect the desired audio source (IN) and start playback. The SMARTstreamer 1 sends the music on CHANNEL 1 to the network.
- Now connect SMARTstreamer 2 (receiver) to your local network as well. Open the SMART app and deactivate the network output in the audio settings of SMARTstreamer 2 to switch to receive mode (the CONNECT LED goes out).
- Connect your amplifier to the OUT audio output of SMARTstreamer 2 using an audio cable. In the live view, select CHANNEL 1 as the source.
