Project framework #
One music source distributed across several sales areas
SMART devices used #
- 1 x SMARTstreamer
- any number of SMARTplayers
- any number of SMARTspeakers
Network requirements #
Professional IT networks are often adapted to the customer’s specific security requirements. Therefore, please check with your IT administrator that the following requirements are met before commissioning:
- Router with active DHCP
- SMART Audio devices are in the same network
- Multicast is activated
Service requirements:
The mDNS service enables the resolution of DNS names via the mDNS protocol. The IP address is 224.0.0.251 and the port is 5353.
Ports 80/443 and 1443 are required for http(s) and websockets.
Broadcasts via UDP on port 42750 are required for the localization of NewTec products.
Port 42735 is required for multicast on the IP addresses 239.10.140.21 – 239.10.140.31 if a SMARTstreamer is used to distribute audio over the network.
The service availability should be guaranteed continuously.
Port releases:
Release of the UDP ports 42750 (broadcasts), 42735 (multicast for SMARTstreamer) and 5353 (mDNS) as well as the TCP ports 80/443 and 1443 (websockets).
Important note: Internet connection or VPN is not required for commissioning. Internet is only required in the case of external audio sources (URL) or for remote service.
Installation sequence #
We recommend starting with the commissioning of the transmitting devices (SMARTstreamer and SMARTplayer) and only then installing and pairing the receiving devices (SMARTspeakers) in groups.
Connecting SMARTstreamer to network #
Connect the SMARTstreamer to your local network using the network cable supplied. Make sure that the CONNECT LED first flashes blue and then lights up blue continuously – the SMARTstreamer is then successfully registered in the network. Start the audio source and check that the AUDIO LED lights up orange continuously. The SMARTstreamer now sends the music on CHANNEL 1 to the network.

Setting up multiple SMARTplayers #
- First connect SMARTplayer 1, connect it to your network and to an audio source and start playback.
- Set SMARTplayer 1 to pairing mode and only install the speakers that are to be connected to it.
- As soon as the speakers are successfully paired, end pairing mode.
- Then repeat the process with SMARTplayer 2 and the corresponding speakers, etc.
- Open the SMART App and select CHANNEL 1 as the source in the live view of the SMARTplayer.
Important note: Leave the SMARTplayer 1 that has already been set up switched on and in normal mode (CONNECT LED lights up blue continuously) while setting up the SMARTplayer 2. Never switch off SMARTplayer 1 to prevent a speaker that does not reach SMARTplayer 1 for a longer period of time from accidentally connecting to SMARTplayer 2, which is currently in pairing mode.
Create groups #
Before installing the speakers, we recommend that you first create all groups (e.g. entrance, cash desk, general) for each SMARTplayer (e.g. first floor, second floor). Then set the SMARTplayer (e.g. first floor) to pairing mode. Install the speakers “group by group” by only installing the speakers of one group at a time and then assigning them directly to the desired group via the software.
